Wood Bowl Size Guide

Not sure which size fits your needs? Use this guide to find the perfect vessel for your table.

Small (4" – 6" Diameter)

The "Snack & Prep" Bowl
These petite bowls are the workhorses of the kitchen and the perfect accent for a side table.

  • Best For: Mise en place (prepped ingredients), nuts, olives, sea salt pinch bowls, jewelry/ring holder, or a single scoop of ice cream.
  • Visual Sizing: About the size of a grapefruit or a large coffee mug.

Medium (7" – 9" Diameter)

The "Individual Meal" Bowl
The ideal size for holding a full meal for one person. If you are looking for a daily breakfast or lunch bowl, this is it.

  • Best For: Morning oatmeal/cereal, a hearty personal salad, ramen, soup, or a side dish of roasted vegetables for two. *See Care Instructions for info about hot food.
  • Visual Sizing: Similar to a standard ceramic cereal bowl or soup bowl found in a dinnerware set.

Large (10" – 12" Diameter)

The "Family" Bowl
This is our most popular size for gifting. It serves as a standard salad bowl for a small family or a generous fruit bowl for the counter.

  • Best For: Salad for 2–4 people, a large batch of movie-night popcorn (for one or two), or displaying 5–6 apples/oranges.
  • Visual Sizing: The size of a standard dinner plate, but deep.

Extra Large (13" – 15" Diameter)

The "Entertainer" Bowl
A true centerpiece. These bowls have a significant presence on a table and are designed for hosting.

  • Best For: Salad for 6–8 people, holding a large amount of dough for rising, or as a permanent centerpiece on a dining table or kitchen island.
  • Visual Sizing: Comparable to a large pizza or a steering wheel.

Statement (16" and up)

The "Heirloom" Centerpiece
Rare and impressive. These bowls are often turned from massive log sections and serve as functional art.

  • Best For: Large holiday gatherings (serves 10+), catering events, or as a standalone sculptural art piece in an entryway or living room.

A Note on Shape: Shallow vs. Deep

  • Open/Shallow Bowls: Best for tossed salads (easier to toss without spilling) and fruit display.
  • Deep/Calabash Bowls: Best for popcorn, chips, or dishes that need to stay warm (the shape holds heat better).
